Liberty Theatre Bluegrass Concert - Nathan Stanley & Constant Sorrow

Did you know: The making of JAWS was almost as dramatic as the movie. The shoot ran long and over budget. The script was still being written as scenes were filmed. Steven Spielberg, still a young director, woke each day fearing he would be fired. The mechanical shark sank to the bottom of the ocean. And on one particularly frustrating day, the production went through more than…21 rewrites.

THE SHARK IS BROKEN brings that legendary behind-the-scenes story to the stage.

THE SHARK IS BROKEN, By Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon. Directed by Laura Moore. Starring Cameron Vargas, Scott Morehead, and Tim Moore

Runs October 9 – November 15, 2026

Running time: 1 hour 30 minutes with no intermission

Tickets: pagosacenter.org | 970.731.SHOW (7469)

FADE IN: The open ocean, 1974. Production on JAWS is delayed…again. Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, and Roy Scheider are crammed into a too-small boat, at the mercy of foul weather and a faulty mechanical co-star. Alcohol flows, egos collide, and tempers flare in this comedy about the making of a movie that nearly sank before it became a classic.
