Round Robin Saturdays:

Offical play begins at 8:30am although you are welcome to come sooner to warm up. Play will end at approximately 11:00am. You do not need to arrive at exactly 8:30 or stay until 11:00.

• Come when you want, leave when you want, or sit out a game or two if you want to rest.
• Games will be 10-12 minutes depending on how many people we have. If you finish a game before time is up, go ahead and start another.

This is a fun event for everyone regardless of your skill level. We want everyone to feel welcome. It is a great way to meet people and have a good time.

The game combines elements of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court: 20′ x 44.’ The ball is served diagonally (starting with the right-hand service square), and points can only be scored by the side that serves.

Players on each side must let the ball bounce once before volleys are allowed, and there is a seven-foot no-volley zone on each side of the net, to prevent “spiking.” The server continues to serve, alternating service courts, until he or she faults. The first side scoring eleven points and leading by at least two points wins. Pickleball can be played as a doubles game or a singles game.

Pagosa Weather is the Archuleta County Weather Ready Nation Ambassador. As such, we partner with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to inspire folks to be “better informed and prepared, thus helping to minimize, mitigate, or avoid the impacts of natural disasters”.

We have already seen temperatures in the area dip below freezing. We have already seen a trace of snow in the high country. Tomorrow is the equinox when the sun is directly above the equator. We are tipping away from the sun and daylight is decreasing at the fastest rate around the autumnal equinox. Temperatures are decreasing at a steady rate and the polar airmass is building to the north. Soon, winter will be here!

To prepare for Pagosa Weather is hosting a Winter Weather Wonder! It will be on October 17th from 5:30 to 9:00pm. This is a free event and open to the public.

Tentative schedule:

5:30pm – Appetizers catered by Pagosa Bakery.

6:00pm – Winter Outlook by Arleen & Shawn Prochazka of Pagosa Weather. Will it be another abysmal winter or more like 2018/2019? Or 2022/2023?

6:45pm – Dessert catered by Showbox Bakery

7:00pm – Avalanche & Back-country Safety by Dustin English of Upper San Juan Search & Rescue. Dustin is a wonderful, engaging speaker. His talk is as essential for hikers and cross country skiers as it is for downhill skiers and snowboarders.

Feel free to come for the whole event or just your preferred talk.

The Pagosa Springs Farmer’s Markets will be held each Saturday beginning June 14th and continuing through October. The Market opens at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 1:00pm. This year, the market will be held at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church off of South Pagosa Blvd.

The Farmers Market features goods from local farms and gardens in Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County and regional farms in the Four Corners area.

Featuring vendors with fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, flowers, honey, locally produced meats, locally roasted coffee beans, free-range eggs, homemade breads and pastries, fresh and dried mushrooms, handmade chocolates, meals-to-go, herbal products, seedlings and more, from the source direct to you.
