San Juan Stargazers. 6-8:30 p.m., Community United Methodist Church, 434 Lewis St. Use the parking lot and enter at the door right off the parking area.
There will be a social hour starting at 6 p.m., with activities from 7-8:30 p.m.
Visit https://sanjuanstargazers.org/ for more info.
All are welcome at our meetings! We meet at 6:00 for social hour and snacks. This is a great time to ask informal questions and have good conversation. THERE IS A PARKING LOT TO THE EAST OF THE CHURCH & WE USE THE DOOR OFF THE PARKING LOT INTO THE KITCHEN. THE MAIN DOORS OFTEN ARE LOCKED.
From 6:30-7:00, members are encouraged to break out into the following teams to gather ideas and foster participation and collaboration: Telescopes, Audio/Visual, Parking Attendants, Presenters, New Member Welcome, Fundraising, Education, Club Perks, Club Photographer, and Hospitality.
Our program starts at 7:00.
The educational & major part of our meetings may include a guest speaker. If there is no speaker, we currently use programs from The Great Courses; Experiencing Hubble: Understanding the Greatest Images of the Universe and Our Night Sky: Learning How to Become an Expert Stargazer.
There is a written lesson & video program. Anyone from a beginner to an advanced astronomer can benefit from these lessons. The beauty of Astronomy is the EVERYONE has a lot to learn & each lesson contributes to your knowledge. There is ALWAYS AN OPPORTUNITY to ask questions to get clarification. If you have a question it is almost certain that someone else has that same question. What you learn each night may be interesting to awe-inspiring. Most of the time we end our lessons in absolute wonder and amazement.

The Western Front: Christmas 1914.
Out of the violence of World War I, a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace.
An a cappella chorale, All Is Calm is a remarkable true story in the words and songs of the men who lived it.
