Get immersed in the deep, resonant vibrations of the cello, reaching into the most intimate corners of the soul. Ian Maksin continues his journey as a musical nomad, creating a unique fusion of musical traditions from across the globe through the empowering voice of the cello.

Inspired by healing songs of the Navajo people, the trance-inducing grooves of the Tuareg people of West Africa, and the hypnotic shamanic rhythms of Tuva, Mongolia, and other nomadic cultures of Central Asia, he merges these ancient musical experiences with his own original music. Through looping and subtle electronics, he creates immersive soundscapes that envelop the listener and carry them beyond time and space — into a state of meditation, presence, and deep inner transformation.

In addition, Maksin will share a few songs from his collection that currently holds over 300 songs in 43 languages including French, Italian, Farsi, Mongolian, Turkish, Kurmanji, Arabic, Ukrainian, Spanish, Greek, Georgian, Armenian, Hindi, and many others.

Event Details

Did you know: The making of JAWS was almost as dramatic as the movie. The shoot ran long and over budget. The script was still being written as scenes were filmed. Steven Spielberg, still a young director, woke each day fearing he would be fired. The mechanical shark sank to the bottom of the ocean. And on one particularly frustrating day, the production went through more than…21 rewrites.

THE SHARK IS BROKEN brings that legendary behind-the-scenes story to the stage.

THE SHARK IS BROKEN, By Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon. Directed by Laura Moore. Starring Cameron Vargas, Scott Morehead, and Tim Moore

Runs October 9 – November 15, 2026

Running time: 1 hour 30 minutes with no intermission

Tickets: pagosacenter.org | 970.731.SHOW (7469)

FADE IN: The open ocean, 1974. Production on JAWS is delayed…again. Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, and Roy Scheider are crammed into a too-small boat, at the mercy of foul weather and a faulty mechanical co-star. Alcohol flows, egos collide, and tempers flare in this comedy about the making of a movie that nearly sank before it became a classic.

Doors Open: 5:30 PM; Ball Begins: 6:00 PM promptly

We encourage guests to arrive early, settle in, and enjoy the anticipation as the evening begins. Formal attire and masquerade costumes are encouraged. Prepare to make a statement, as you’ll have the opportunity to compete for one of three extraordinary Springs Resort packages in our special costume contest.

Once the festivities begin, Soul Fire will take the stage, providing the perfect soundtrack for an evening of dining, celebration, and dancing into the night. Be sure to bring your cash or card so you can take part in the evening’s fundraising experiences:

  • Drink Tickets — Raise a glass and toast to a wonderful cause.
  • Costume Contest Voting — Cast your vote for your favorite masquerade creation.
  • Silent Auction — Bid on exceptional getaway experiences and other exciting offerings.
  • Wine Pull — Take your chance at going home with a beautiful high-end bottle of wine.

Every ticket, bid, glass, and game of chance contributes to something truly meaningful. All fundraising proceeds benefit Archuleta Seniors Meals on Wheels and other programming that supports local seniors. Your presence makes this evening possible — and your generosity helps make a lasting difference in our community.

So buy your ticket, don your finest attire, choose your mask, and prepare for an evening to remember. We look forward to welcoming you to the Archuleta Seniors Masquerade Ball!

And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before—keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
